UK Student Visa: Document Checklist & Interview Questions
For courses at UK universities with a CAS. Includes credibility interview preparation, TB test and financial evidence.
The UK Student visa is points-based: you need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed university, money for fees and living costs, and English language proof. Living-cost funds are £1,529 a month in London or £1,171 outside London (up to 9 months) for applications made before 30 November 2026, rising to £1,570 / £1,203 from that date. Many universities and UKVI run a short credibility interview. Visas are issued as eVisas, viewed through your UKVI account.

Common UK Student interview questions & sample answers
Sample answers show the style that works — short, specific and honest. Use your own true details; officers can tell when an answer is memorised.
Sample answerI chose the MSc Data Science at the University of Leeds because it has modules in deep learning and big-data systems, a placement option and strong links with financial-sector employers in Leeds.
Mention specific modules, facilities and how they link to your career plan.
Sample answerThe one-year Master's saves time and cost, and UK universities have strong industry-focused programmes in data science that aren't widely available in India.
Sample answerI studied B.Sc Statistics and worked for 18 months as an analyst. This course builds directly on that.
Sample answerMy parents are paying the tuition, and the living costs are covered by funds held in my father's account for over 28 days, plus an education loan.
Know the exact tuition fee, deposit paid and living cost amount.
Sample answerI may use the Graduate Route to get some UK work experience, then return to India to work in analytics for the banking sector.
Sample answerI've booked university accommodation at Leeds for the first year.
Sample answerThe fee is £27,000 and I have paid a deposit of £5,000.
These numbers should match your CAS.
Quick tips
- Check the 28-day funds rule carefully — one day short can mean refusal.
- Prepare for the credibility interview like a university interview: know your course modules.
